Overview

Anguilla’s Flagship Festival

The Anguilla Summer Festival (ASF) is held annually during the months of July and August. It is a celebration of cultural expression demonstrated through boat racing, pageantry, parades and parties.


It is planned and executed by the Executive Council appointed Anguilla Summer Festival Committee.  The Department of Youth and Culture provides on-going oversight and support to the Committee.

The main objectives of the ASF Committee:

(a) to make the Anguilla Summer Festival an economically viable national, cultural and commercial enterprise;
(b) to promote and market the festival and all its cultural events locally, regionally and internationally;

There are numerous events held during Anguilla Summer Festival; however, the committee is only responsible for the following eighteen (18) events:

  1. Opening Night & Light the Street Fete (Official Launch of the ASF)
  2. Junior Calypso Show
  3. Prince & Princess Show
  4. Children’s Parade & Fair
  5. Bandclash / Bandorama
  6. A & B Warm Up Race
  7. Talented Teen Pageant
  8. J’ouvert Morning
  9. August Monday A & B Class Boat Race
  10. Caribbean Beach Party
  11. August Tuesday A Class Boat Race
  12. Senior Calypso Show
  13. August Wednesday A Class Boat Race
  14. Miss Anguilla Queen Pageant
  15. August Thursday A & B Class Boat Race and Beach Party
  16. Grand Parade of Troupes
  17. Leeward Islands Calypso Competition
  18. Champion of Champions Boat Race (Official End of The ASF)

Eligibility

  1. Open participation
  2. Contestants for the various shows/events must meet a specific criterion for those events.

Accomplishments

  1. Anguilla Summer Festival celebrated its 45th Anniversary in 2019
  2. The Caribbean Beach Party is the flagship event of the Festival attracting thousands of visitors to the island annually
  3. The Leeward Island Calypso Competition is the longest running regional calypso competition in the Region (2019 marked its 21st year)
  4. Miss Anguilla 2017 was selected as Miss Universe Britain 2018 and was the 1st Anguillian to participate in the Miss Universe Competition
