Overview

The first organised boat race in Anguilla occurred in 1940. A full account of the origin of that first race and the individuals involved can be found in David Carty’s “Nuttin Bafflin: The Story of Anguilla’s Boat Racing” documentary work on the history and development of boat building and boat racing in Anguilla.

Boat Racing is etched in the soul of Anguillians past and present. It was formally recognised as Anguilla’s National Sport in 2012.
