Overview

The Women in Construction programme aims to facilitate the involvement of women, ages 16 years and older, in the construction industry. The Programme will provide access to opportunities in construction and related sectors for women. It is designed to equip women to undertake, understand or appreciate varied jobs in the construction sector.

This comprehensive Programme will:

  • Cater to women who wish to pursue a career in the construction industry
  • Provide a further opportunity for employment for women during Anguilla’s slow season
  • Empower women in an area which involves unique or unconventional skill sets

A three-pronged training programme (theoretical, practical and on-site) will be established. On-site training will be a significant component of the Programme. An element of structured training, which is expected to be heavily practical and practice-oriented will also be included. Theory, though minimal, will also be an important feature of the Programme.
